Grief and Loss Counselling in Whitley Bay
Grief isn’t only about bereavement.
Many adults experience grief when something meaningful in their life changes or ends, a relationship, a role, a sense of identity, or the future they thought they would have.
If you’re carrying a quiet sense of loss, confusion or emotional heaviness, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Understanding grief in its many forms
Although I do support clients through the death of loved ones, grief can also be connected to:
- The end of a relationship or marriage
- Divorce or separation
- Loss of identity or sense of self
- Major life transitions
- Changes you didn’t choose
- Missed opportunities or life plans
- Feeling disconnected from who you once were
- Receiving a later-in-life autism or ADHD diagnosis
Sometimes the loss isn’t always visible to others but the emotional impact can still feel very real.
You might be experiencing...
You may be noticing feeling stuck or unable to move forward, waves of sadness, anger or numbness or questioning who you are now. You might be finding it difficult to adjust to change, feeling disconnected from yourself or others or experiencing increased anxiety and overwhelm. There may also be a sense that something important has shifted. Grief can affect every part of life emotionally, physically and mentally and everyone’s experience is different.
How counselling can help
Grief work isn’t about “getting over it”. It’s about making sense of what has changed and finding a way to carry the experience with greater understanding and self-compassion.
Together, we can gently work towards processing complex emotions safely, understanding what the loss means for you, and reducing overwhelm. We can also focus on rebuilding your sense of self, finding ways to move forward at your own pace, and developing greater self-acceptance. Our work will always move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My approach
I offer person-centred counselling, which means I will work alongside you in a warm, non-judgemental and supportive way.
You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly where to start, we can begin wherever feels most comfortable for you.
Sessions are available in person in Whitley Bay or online across the UK.
